Maryse: When we first saw the house the front lawn wasn’t in great shape. It was very weedy and not very green. So we ended up spreading top soil and seeding the whole lawn. We also removed the shrub next to the stairs and propped up the front step so it would be even.

Sandy: The house really needed some curb appeal so we put in flowerbeds on either side of the stairs. Lots of red geraniums and some green shrubs. We put some other annuals in there, too.

Maryse: Instead of getting a new front door, we painted the old one and gave it some new hardware.

Sandy: We also thought it would be cool to put up a façade of columns at the front of the door. So we painted the brick the same dark colour as the door and hung the columns next to the painted part. And we put the house numbers on one of the columns and the mailbox on the other side.
